Image of Sarah Jane Whittaker at the Sussex Jewellery SchoolAn experienced teacher, Sarah Jane trained in both traditional silversmithing skills and in jewellery design in the 1990's, before discovering the creative freedoms offered by precious metal clay (silver clay).  She holds various jewellery-related awards and in 2009 she was awarded the prestigious Diploma in Metal Clay Proficiency from the Mid-Cornwall School of Jewellery (MCSJ Dip MC).  Sarah Jane is fully-trained in the effective teaching of metal clay skills.

Discouraged from artistic endeavours by miserable art classes at school , Sarah Jane believes that we are all creative beings.  She is passionate about helping others find and express their own creative voice, and this informs her teaching style, which is friendly, fun and empowering.  Sarah Jane's recent work has explored concepts of freedom, as well as the marks life leaves on us all as we walk our path.

Sarah Jane is Principal of  the Sussex Jewellery School and co-owner of the Cuckoo Cuckoo Contemporary Crafts Gallery in Hastings Old Town, East Sussex.  Her work is available to purchase via www.CuckooCuckoo.Etsy.com and at galleries and shows throughout Sussex.  Her work can also be viewed by appointment at her design studio.

Sarah Jane is a member of the PMC Guild and the Association of Contemporary Jewellers, and is working towards the challenging Metal Clay Masters' Registryprogramme.
