Sarah Jane Whittaker MCSJ Dip PMC, school principal and metal clay and silverwork tutor

Sarah Jane Whittaker MCSJ Dip PMC

An experienced teacher, Sarah Jane trained in both traditional silversmithing skills and in jewellery design in the 1990's, before discovering the creative freedoms offered by precious metal clay.  She has been awarded a Diploma in PMC Proficiency from the Mid-Cornwall School of Jewellery.  The Diploma is the most thorough training in precious metal clay techniques available in the UK to date and includes thorough training in teaching PMC skills effectively.

Discouraged from artistic endeavours by miserable art classes at school , Sarah Jane believes that we are all creative beings.  She is passionate about helping others find and express their own creative voice, and this informs her teaching style, which is friendly, fun and empowering.

Sarah Jane's recent work focusses on the tiny side of life, inspired by microcosms in the natural world.

She works and teaches from the Cuckoo Cuckoo design studio at the Sussex Jewellery School in Eastbourne, and sells work via www.CuckooCuckoo.co.uk, and at exhibitions throughout Sussex.  Her work can also be viewed by appointment at her design studio.

Sarah Jane is a member of the PMC Guild and the Association of Contemporary Jewellers, and is working towards the challenging Metal Clay Masters' Registry programme.
